Project Description
These courses are designed solely for those who have completed or are far enough into a current BFI series to participate. Each course is essentially intended to be both a review of previously learned material PLUS additional “gems” that I hope to share! You may find yourself re-learning a forgotten technique or perhaps learning a new approach all together. Nuance in palpation, finesse with your hands & application of techniques will be increased as we are sure to have a great base knowledge coming in to each course. Each course will be an integrative approach based on the understanding of mobility and motility of any given tissue.

TMJ
Friday January 20, 2023 – Postponed. New date TBA-
9:30am – 5:30pm
with Heather Gittens RMT
The TMJ is an interesting articulation in the human body. One must truly “set the stage” for the mandible to hang in harmony from the temporal bone and the therapist must appreciate the inter-connectedness to the cervical spine & cranium. Some review will preface more detailed work with the cranium and intro-oral work for this complex structure. Great results to follow…

The Lungs
Friday March 3, 2023
9:30am-5:30pm
with Heather Gittens RMT
Within the protective rib cage lies our spongy lungs, covered in a visceral pleural skin that articulates for slide and glide within the parietal pleura. The BFI therapist already appreciates that one must encourage mobility of the thorax for the well being of the lungs but how do we best work with the lung tissue itself? To access pleural recesses, bronchial tubes & fissures, our understanding of anatomy must be rather precise. Come for a day of exploration of both the physical, emotional and energetics we might encounter in this revealing part of the body.

Occiput: Sphenoid: Ethmoid
2023 Dates TBA
with Heather Gittens RMT
Understanding the sphenobasilar relationship is paramount in the cranium & it’s mobility, motility & affect on function of the cranio-sacral system. There is a direct connection from the base of the skull (occiput) through to the orbit and face in this triad of bones & their articulations. All too often we focus on the sphenobasilar component and do not carry it through to the ethmoid which can make all the difference in our goal of long term results. Anatomy, energetics & easy to incorporate techniques will fill our day.

Cecum-Bladder-Sigmoid
2023 Dates TBA
with Heather Gittens RMT
Let’s dive into these pelvic organs and see how they truly impact the mobility & stability of the pelvis! In this one day course, the BFI alumni can jump right into the mobility of these structures but also see how they impact the physiological function of our elimination.

Hip Joint & Associated Structures (non-visceral)
2023 Dates TBA
with Heather Gittens RMT
The pelvis can feel overwhelming and understanding it in 3 dimensions difficult at the best of times! This course aims to take the stress away from trying to figure it all out & “where to start”!!! We will study anatomy & techniques for osseous, ligamentous & joint structures primarily.
